Figaro, a quick-witted barber, agrees (for a generous sum) to help Count Almaviva woo Rosina, the closely-guarded ward of the greedy Doctor Bartolo, who fancies her and her substantial inheritance for himself. Together, the lovers and their friseur plot an escape that involves bribery, subterfuge and numerous comic disguises along the way.
